Google Ads Cost per Click by Country 2026: A Plumber Click Costs $34 in the US and $1.55 in Poland
$34.32. That is the average price of one click on "plumber" in the United States. In Poland the same search costs $1.55. In Ukraine, $0.15. Same intent, same Google auction mechanics, a 200x difference.
We pulled Google Keyword Planner data for 26 niches across five markets: the US, the UK, Germany, Poland and Ukraine. Each search was translated into the local language, so we compare like with like. Below are the full numbers, what explains the gaps, and what they mean for your budget.

niches compared across 5 countries
Across 26 niches, the median Google Ads cost per click in 2026 is $21.63 in the US, $5.52 in the UK, $4.84 in Germany, $2.45 in Poland and $0.81 in Ukraine. A US click is typically 4x the price of a UK click and 9x the price of a Polish one. The gap is widest for local services and insurance (plumber, AC installation, car insurance: 19-22x US vs Poland) and narrowest for things sold across borders, such as SEO services, solar panels and running shoes (2-3x). The UK and Germany are priced almost the same. A cheap click is not automatically a cheap customer: compare cost per lead and customer value, not CPC.
How we measured
- Source: Google Keyword Planner historical metrics, pulled through the Google Ads API on 6 October 2026. Metric: average cost per click in USD over the last 12 months.
- Same intent, local language. "Plumber" became "Klempner" in Germany, "hydraulik" in Poland and "сантехнік" in Ukraine. For the UK we used local wording where it differs: divorce solicitor, car hire, estate agent, removal company, driving lessons, vets.
- Ukraine: people search in both Ukrainian and Russian, so for each niche we took whichever variant has more searches.
- Exclusions: we dropped niches where Google returned no data in one or more markets (dental implants, braces, rhinoplasty, hair transplant, phone repair) and niches with fewer than 100 monthly searches in any country.
- Caveat: Keyword Planner shows an average across all advertisers. Your real price depends on Quality Score, bidding strategy, city, device and time of day. Treat these as market benchmarks, not a quote.
The big picture: the US is in a league of its own
The median US click costs $21.63, four times the UK. That is not a story about the dollar: the UK and Germany are rich markets with high wages, and they still sit close to each other at around $5. What makes the US different is the value of a customer. A roof repair, a car insurance policy or a personal injury case is worth more in the US, and there are more advertisers able to pay for it, so the auction settles higher.
Moving east, prices fall step by step: Poland is half of Germany, and Ukraine is a third of Poland. In Ukraine many local businesses still do not advertise on Google at all, so some auctions barely have competition.

Where the gap is widest, and why
Line the niches up by the US-to-Poland ratio and a clear pattern appears.
- Local services: 11-23x. Plumber (22x), AC installation (23x), roof repair (16x), electrician (11x), moving company (12x). The job is done locally, priced at local wages, and a US job is simply worth more. A plumber call-out in the US can be worth hundreds of dollars; in Poland, a fraction of that.
- Insurance and loans: 5-19x. Car insurance (19x), life insurance (17x), mortgage (17x). Customer lifetime value is high in the US, and big insurers bid aggressively.
- Things sold across borders: 2-4x. SEO services (2x), solar panels (2x), running shoes (3x), car rental (3x), web design (4x). Here advertisers compete for similar margins regardless of country, and in Poland the SEO market is especially crowded: at $23.88, "pozycjonowanie stron" is the most expensive Polish click in our set.
The US is not always the most expensive. "Life insurance" costs more in the UK ($58.38) than in the US ($45.92). "Divorce lawyer" is nearly the same in both ($27.27 vs $29.97). And in Germany "mortgage" ($12.33) and "personal loan" ($12.65) cost more than in the UK. Always check your own keywords rather than assuming.
The outlier we left out of the table
"Personal injury lawyer" has no direct equivalent in the other markets, so it is not in the comparison. In the US its average click is $170.62, with top-of-page bids up to $291. In the UK, "personal injury solicitor" averages $65.75. If you want to see how law firms deal with prices like that, we covered it in our guide to lawyer marketing costs.
What this means for your budget
- Compare cost per customer, not cost per click. A $34 plumber click in the US that turns into a $400 job can be more profitable than a $1.55 click in Poland that turns into a $40 job. CPC is the entry ticket, not the bill.
- Plan budgets by market. As a rule of thumb, buying the same number of clicks in the US takes about 4x the UK budget and about 9x the Polish one. A $1,000 monthly test that gives meaningful data in Poland may produce only 30-50 clicks in the US.
- If you sell across borders, test cheaper markets first. SaaS, ecommerce and remote services can validate ads, landing pages and offers in Germany or Poland, then scale into the US with proven creative.
- In expensive markets, waste hurts more. Irrelevant search terms cost the same share of budget everywhere, but at $30 per click each bad one stings. A regular search terms review pays for itself fastest in the US.
- The click price says nothing about who should manage the account. Running a US account and a Polish account takes the same work, but percentage-of-spend fees make the US one far more expensive to manage. We break down the options in how much Google Ads management costs in 2026.
Open Google Ads, go to Tools, then Keyword Planner, then "Get search volume and forecasts". Paste your keywords, set the location, and look at "Top of page bid (low range)" and "(high range)". The high range is what you need to bid to show at the top for most searches. Our numbers are the historical average CPC, which usually falls between the two.
